The Children's Advocacy Center Services
Forensic Interviews
The CAC provides a neutral, child-friendly space where child victims can be interviewed by a specially trained forensic interviewer regarding the alleged abuse.
Assessment and Crisis Intervention
The CAC provides assessment services for all child victims and their non-offending family members. Emergency needs are explored. Children and their families can also receive crisis intervention counseling.
Counseling Services and Referral
The CAC and the Center For Counseling have partnered together to provide counseling services to those children and families that wish to use it. Five counseling sessions will be provided free of charge. In addition, referrals can be made for medical, social services, and other mental health needs.
Case Coordination
The CAC assists child victims and their families in understanding the roles each team member plays in responding to their case. It also provides a contact between the team and the family during the investigation and facilitates case review meetings for the team.
Court Advocacy
The CAC will attend all court hearings on cases and keep the family informed of court dates and court activity. It will also assist the State Attorney’s Office in preparing children and families for court testimony.
Training
The CAC provides and assists team members with training necessary to develop special skills needed in responding to child abuse investigations.
Community Awareness and Education
The Center works to increase community awareness of child abuse issues, including prevention.
